Occupational Therapy

The Goal of Occupational Therapy

The primary goal of Occupational Therapy is to empower individuals to participate in the "Occupations" that give their life meaning, regardless of injury, illness or the effects of aging. In this context an occupation is not just a job it refers to any daily activity from self-care and household tasks to social hobbies and community engagement.

By enhancing personal skills, prescribing assistive technology or modifying the physical environment, OTs bridge the gap between a person’s current abilities and the life they want to lead, fostering long-term independence, safety and well-being.
